WADT – Fail.

April 14, 2010

Today was WADT (Wear A Dress Tuesday). I forgot. Well, I remembered eventually, but by then it was too late. It made me sad in my heart.

But, you know what made my day better? The fact that I won this awesome, cool garlic press from We Are Not Martha. That left me with a high much akin to WADT.

In other WADT-related news, I tried to buy a dress this weekend. I went to my favorite store – Target – expecting to find a nice summery dress to wear today, and then again this weekend at my niece, Brenna’s, baptism.

Well, TARGET FAIL.

I’m so sad I had to type those words, but Target, you let me down.

First of all, the cute summery dress that I really wanted was once again all out in my size in every single pattern. And this was my second attempt to purchase it. Or, at least try it on.

So, I tried on a dress from the clearance rack because it was moderately cute and also, did I mention it was on clearance? Unfortunately, I looked sort of like a bag lady. So, it was a no go. Sad because I like to purchase things that are marked down and revel in my thriftiness.

So, I moved on and tried on another.

I swear it’s cuter than this picture illustrates. However, the skirt was very floofy and short girls like me aren’t made for floofy skirts. So, another no go.

I believe Target’s inability to satiate my desire to spend money I shouldn’t be spending on a dress, directly played a role in me forgetting to wear a dress today.

Further, I hope Brenna understands that when I show up to her baptism naked, Target is to blame. I guess God was sending me a sign that there’s a better dress out there, waiting for me.

Where should I go to find a good dress for WADT?

What Are You Wearing?

March 29, 2010

Tomorrow is Tuesday – what will you be wearing?

This is just a reminder that tomorrow is Wear A Dress Tuesday (WADT)! Liven up your Tuesday by donning a favorite dress or skirt.

I’m excited because it’s potentially my last opportunity to wear a wintery outfit; warmer weather is on its way!

Are you looking for a dress for WADT? Target has some great dresses on sale this week. This dress is only $19.99 and it’s casual, comfortable, and cute!

We hope you’re going to celebrate WADT with us tomorrow!

A Little Something Called “Wear A Dress Tuesday”

March 16, 2010

You may or may not have noticed that Sarah #1 and I have mentioned on this blog and Sarah’s blog, a little tradition known as “Wear A Dress Tuesday (WADT).”

I explained it a little in this post, but we thought it was time to fill you all in on what this tradition means to us, besides serving as a way for us to connect from across many states of separation.

In our discussions about life in general, we decided we needed a mid-week pick-me-up; something to fight our blahs. To us, WADT is a simple way for us to feel confident and beautiful on a day of the week that is often tiresome and a long way off from Friday.

We all have days that get us down. We all experience situations that frustrate and upset us. Whether it’s stress from work, drama from friends, trouble with family, or it’s just especially rainy outside, we all have days that leave us wanting nothing more than to curl up in bed and forget everything.

It happens. It’s called life. We decided that in order to overcome our collective blahs, we would wear dresses.

Sounds silly, right? But, a dress transforms a girl. Put a dress on and the day instantly goes from normal to special. For girls, our memories are often built around dresses – prom dresses, wedding dresses – dresses represent our milestones and illustrate the importance of an event.

If you’re feeling down and out about life, you can put on a dress and feel different. You walk with confidence. You move with grace. And you feel special.

Your size, your shape – none of that matters in a dress because no matter what you look like, there are dresses that seem like they’re made for you. You smile every time you put them on.

And, dresses don’t have to break the bank. It’s possible to own an array of casual and professional dresses that cost less than $100 and become mainstays in your wardrobe.

Ever since the first Tuesday of wearing dresses, we have created the tradition of “Wear A Dress Tuesday.” The concept? Simple. You fight the Tuesday blahs and make a regular day special by wearing a dress.

No, we’re not fashion gurus and we don’t believe that clothes make the (wo)man, but we do believe that by doing something as simple as wearing a dress, you can change how you feel about yourself inside and out, and approach the day with a positive outlook.

Now we’d like to invite all of you to join us. Next Tuesday, put on a cute dress or a favorite skirt and take charge of your day from the moment you wake up.

Feel free to send us pictures, we’d love to post them!
